My Darling Clementine
Mandarin Orange and Clementine season is upon me and when asked what art inspired me, I naturally chose this mixed media piece by SCAD alumna Beth Loraine Bowman. So reminiscent of my darling clementines (yum!) with its deep texture, full-bodied orange hues, and glossy finish…I can almost smell (and taste) the sweetness now!
Inspired by Chocolate
Food is our trigger to all design. Its color may inform our fashion, its texture may inform our artwork. Its shape may inform our interiors and its flavor will always inform our table. In honor of Valentine’s Day, for the next two weeks our inspiration is chocolate. From bean to bar we celebrate the flavor of love.
Inspired Art
“The Sheep Object” so masterfully painted by SCAD alumnus Russ Noto, sets my imagination running absolutely wild. I am utterly tickled by the notion that someone built this baby from scratch using an old oil barrel, some thick crumpled paper and bent metal rods. I guess the word “RED” emboldened in scarlet and slapped on the side of any such unexpected beast would give me pause, but this particular creature interests me on multi-levels.
